Itinerary

  Destination Highlights
Day 1 Windhoek to Swakopmund Arrive in and take delivery of the rental car or meet your guide, leave Windhoek and travel about 300 km, by tar road, westwards. On our way from Windhoek to Swakopmund we pass Okahandja. Okahandja is an important centre for woodcarvers from the north. They practice their ancient skills at the Woodcarvers Market next to the main road. This is a good place to pick up some souvenirs. Arrive in Swakopmund
Lunch & Dinner - own account at any coffee shop or restaurant in Swakopmund
Day 2 Swakopmund Two days are spent in Swakopmund. Swakopmund is a small coastal town with excellent shops and souvenir stores. High sand dunes, stunning beaches (water temperature between 15 °C and 20 °C.) Overnight at B&B within easy walking distance from town centre and beach.
Breakfast is included. Enjoy lunch and dinner on your own account.
Day 3 Swakopmund The sweep of the coastline and desert hinterland offers many options for adventure and relaxation. You can undertake a day trip into the desert or along the coast. There are numerous activities on offer, also for the more adventurous.
Breakfast is included. Enjoy lunch and dinner on your own account. Superb restaurants in close proximity.
Day 4 Swakopmund - Twyfelfontein We depart early to Twyfelfontein in Damaraland. We visit the rock paintings and the Burnt Mountain.
Breakfast in Swakopmund, Lunch picnic & Dinner at the lodge
Day 5 Twyfelfontein - Etosha National Park Early departure so that we can still visit the Ugab Terraces and the "Fingerklippe". We arrive in time to enjoy a short game drive.
Breakfast in Twyfelfontein, Lunch picnic & Dinner at the lodge
Day 6 Etosha National Park THE ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK - one of the largest and most prominent game reserves in Africa, covers an area of 22 270 square km.
The park is home to approximately 145 species of animal wildlife, which includes some endangered species such as the black rhino, cheetah and black-faced impala. Other game includes elephants, lions, giraffe, zebra, hyena, leopards and gnu to name a few, and many antelope such as kudu, oryx, eland and the smallest antelope, the Damara dik-dik. Smaller animals include the honey badger, warthog and bat-eared fox. Etosha has a bird population of some 340 species and is an important breeding ground for the greater and lesser flamingos in southern Africa.
The main area of the Park is covered by a huge salt pan, 129 km long and up to 72 km wide. During the rainy season the pan resembles a huge lake, but this soon evaporates during the dry season, leaving behind a shimmering sediment causing mirages to play havoc on the eyes.
A visit during the dry season, May to October, is certainly the most rewarding time for game viewing. Huge herds of game assemble at the waterholes in the early mornings and before dusk, entertaining the audience with their different antics.
Day 7 Etosha - Windhoek We depart early to drive back to Windhoek for a late afternoon arrival at your guesthouse. We pass Okahandja again where you can buy some souvenirs.
